Following the recent earthquake on October 10, 2025, Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its employees and students. In line with this, the Manolo Fortich Local Government Unit (LGU), through the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO) and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), conducted a comprehensive structural inspection of the NBSC campus on October 13, 2025, prior to the resumption of classes and office operations.
The inspection was led by Engr. Rosa Bella D. Saluta, Officer-in-Charge of the MEO, together with Engr. Rommelyn S. Rivel, Engr. Michelle G. Dacar, and Engr. Darell A. Quieta. They were supported by PTLCOL Rosseau M. Clerigo (Ret.), Local DRRMO Officer II, who provided technical assistance and coordinated the safety verification process. For NBSC, the inspection was facilitated by Mr. John Mark L. Boyonas, Head of the NBSC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Unit, along with the college’s technical and engineering team: Engr. Jestoni Tortola, Engr. Arnold D. Sicalan Jr., Engr. Ian Jay P. Gonhay, Mr. Fritzar H. Gevero, Mr. Hubert Cuda, Mr. Ramel Valmores, Mr. Nelson B. Encarnacion, and Mr. Benzar Glen Grepon. Documentation and recording of the inspection were handled by Mr. Jan G. Soriano and Mr. Ralph A. Bagotsay of the Public Affairs and Information Office.
The joint inspection aimed to assess campus buildings and facilities for possible cracks, damages, or structural faults resulting from the recent earthquakes and to evaluate their overall safety for occupancy. Findings from the inspection will serve as the basis for the issuance of a formal safety clearance by the LGU.
NBSC President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, expressed her gratitude to the LGU of Manolo Fortich, as well as the NBSC DRRM and Engineering teams, for their coordination and dedication in ensuring a safe learning environment. She reiterated that classes and office operations will only resume once the campus has been officially certified as structurally safe by the proper authorities.
NBSC advises the public to remain vigilant and to refer only to official announcements for updates on the resumption of normal operations.
